Boden Stephenson

Boden StephensonBoden first discovered yoga in the summer of 2000. He immediately noticed that one 90 minute yoga class would move him through the psychological and emotional equivalent of a month of therapy; that he could reconnect to source energy, align himself with the intention of the universe, begin to HEAR through meditation what he was supposed to hear, and on top of it begin to dissolve the falsely held barriers between himself and "others". From that moment on, nobody could keep Boden off his mat.

Since that pivotal moment, Boden’s yoga practice became a way of life and eventually - one year later – he launched a clothing line based in Vedic principles and communicating tongue in cheek expressions that humourously reminded both wearer and viewer of their own inner divinity. In addition, he has been blessed to have had the opportunity to study under many notable contemporary yoga masters. Among them, Jivamukti's founders Sharon Gannon and David LIfe, Yoga Shanti's founders Coleen and Jess as well as Rodney Yee, John Friend, Alan Finger, Seane Corn and others. Boden has been most blessed by the help, inspiration and teachings of Colleen & Jess at Yoga Shanti, and by his friend and teacher, Danny Gray in Los Angeles.

The most intriguing aspect of yoga for Boden is not just in the practice and mastery of advanced Asanas, but in pursuing the study of all 8 limbs of yoga. Having been inducted into TM by Mahirishi at the age of 7, and having been brought up Zen Buddhist, finally finding yoga after a brief interlude of two semesters with it during school felt like opening the door to a home he never knew he had.

“My passion for the study and the practice only seem to increase as time passes. Meditation, Chanting, Asana, Sanskrit study and Ayurvedic inclusion all unfold before me as ever-increasingly interesting topics, and I find that every time I stretch my Heart Chakra to the mat in Down Dog, I feel my heart expanding to include everything around me, dissolving-sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly- my own barriers and belief systems that keep me from my highest good. I find unity through the practice of yoga to be, thus far, the greatest gift given to me in my life, and the opportunity to share the multifaceted brilliance of that gift with others through teaching to be a humbling call to service that I gladly and with warmth and passion wish to answer.”
