class is designed using the ancient healing
science of Ayurveda, one of the oldest,
most complete medical models in the world.
Dosha is an imbalance in the constitution
of each person. On a daily basis,
we can be thrown out of balance due to the
situations of our environment and the cycles
of nature. Learn how to balance your
body and your mind to promote more health
and well-being in your life. Ayurveda
is a sister science to Yoga and is very
important in the effect your practice has
over you.
Vata:
A class designed to build strength and stability
and balance in the body, while calming the
mind, releasing distractions. Vata
imbalance appears as a sense of feeling
ungrounded, scattered, unfocused.
The poses will be held slightly longer to
promote this feeling of stillness and stability.
Great class for those days when you are
moving constantly and feel your energy being
pulled in too many directions. Focus:
Standing poses, forward bends.
Pitta:
This class helps to remove excess heat from
the body. When we get overheated,
we feel irritated, angry and frustrated
over every little thing. This is a great
classs to balance the Pitta season, which
runs through June, July and August.
Pitta is the fire of transformation, both
in the body and in nature. Redirect
this inner fire so it has a positive effect
helping you to stimulate your digestion
of nutrients as well as goals and ideas
in your life. Focus: Twists, Forward
bends, cooling breath.
Kapha:
This class helps to boost your energy levels.
If you are feeling sluggish, depressed and
unmotivated, this is the class for you.
We build heat in this class, moving through
a vigorous sun salutation series with continuous
movement. Poses are held a shorter
length of time. Focus: Backbends,
vinyasa, heating breath.
