INFORMATION FOR NEW STUDENTS

Welcome to Joyful Yoga & Ayurvedic Spa! We provide a variety of classes that include postures, breathing exercises and deep relaxation. This ancient art/science is time-tested to have immense benefits physically, mentally and emotionally when done regularly.

In contrast to most forms of exercise, the postures are most effective when done gently, without strain or pain, in a non-competitive manner. Classes are ongoing. You may begin at any time.

Yoga is practiced on an empty stomach, in bare feet. Dress comfortably and bring a towel. We provide mats, blocks and blankets for your convenience free of charge; however, we strongly encourage you to purchase one or all, not only for hygienic reasons but also to make a commitment to your practice and provide your own sacred space. (Several styles are available here.)

Whether this is your 1st class or your 1000th, our desire is to provide a wonderful experience for you so that when you leave, you feel better than when you arrived.

    Precautions: Please let your instructor know if you have any health challenges or are pregnant. If you have not done Yoga before or have health challenges that limit your movement, we recommend one (or a series of) private lessons to help familiarize yourself with the asanas (postures) and to help you modify them as needed, assuring you an easy integration into any of the classes and providing a pleasurable experience.

    Class Packages: There are no refunds or extensions on class packages. Classes do not have to be used consecutively and expire 4 months after purchase. A monthly pass entitles you to unlimited drop-in classes for one month from date of purchase.

    Work Exchange: One class for one hour of work. See teacher for application.

    Gift Cards: Available in any amount. They may be used for classes, workshops, boutique purchases, or any spa or Ayurvedic treatments.

    Newsletters: Available at our website and sent via email each month to keep you up to date on workshops, class changes, and any other information that is pertinent to your practice. You can sign up to receieve them by clicking on the "Mailings" link on the website sidebar.

    Opening/Closing: Some classes begin and/or end chanting the primordial sound "OM". This creates a serene atmosphere and aligns the energy of the participants. Chanting is used in all spiritual traditions and has many benefits that have been scientifically verified. Please feel free to join in and vibrate your cells into alignment with the Universe! Classes end with the Sanskrit greeting "Namaste", meaning the divine in me recognizes and honors the divine in you and knows we are one. In consideration of others, please enter the studio as quietly as possible in the last 15 minutes of a given class. If arriving late, please take the time to sufficiently warm up before joining the Flow. Please be considerare and follow along with the instructor. "Doing your own thing" is distracting to all. Save it for your home practice.

    DVDs: Our Joyful Flow is available to enable you to practice with Jackie and Tess at home or on your travels. We also have CDs available of different classes for those who only need to listen to the teacher's guidance.

    Corporate and Community Classes: We provide many classes at business and community locations. If you would like to have them in yours, please have your activities director/human resources rep. contact the studio for prices and available times.
